Ingredients for Orange Trifle Recipe 1

  • ½ box gelatine or
  • 2 tablespoons granulated gelatine
  • ½ cup cold water
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • Grated rind 1 orange
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Whip from 3½ cups cream

Instructions

  1. Soak gelatine in cold water, dissolve in boiling water, strain into a bowl, and add sugar, fruit juices, and orange rind.
  2. Set bowl in pan of ice-water and stir constantly until it begins to thicken, then fold in whip from cream, adding one-third at a time.
  3. Should gelatine mixture become too thick, melt over hot water, and again cool before adding whip and mould; or make orange jelly, color with fruit red, and cover bottom of mould one-half inch deep; chill, and when firm fill with Orange Trifle mixture.
  4. Cool remaining jelly in shallow pan, cut in cubes, and garnish base of mould.
