Ingredients for Nut Doughnuts Recipe 2

  • 1¼ cups sugar
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 1½ cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped English walnut meats
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Flour to make soft dough

Instructions

  1. Cream vegetable shortening and sugar together, add eggs well beaten, milk, salt, extracts, baking powder, nuts, and sufficient flour to make soft dough.
  2. Roll out, cut with cutter and fry in hot vegetable shortening to a golden color.
  3. Drain and sift with sugar.
  4. Sufficient for seventy-five doughnuts.
