Ingredients for Molasses Drop Cakes Recipe

  • ½ cup molasses
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ¼ cup boiling water
  • 2½ cups flour
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon ginger an4, cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Mix together flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, ginger and cinnamon.
  2. Add the boiling water to the molasses and shortening.
  3. Drop little by little on the flour mixture and stir in.
  4. Then add the beaten egg.
  5. Drop with a spoon on greased pan, making cakes about the size of a silver dollar.
  6. Bake in moderate oven for about 15 minutes.
