Ingredients for Marshmallow Icing
- 1½ cups sugar
- ½ cup water
- ½ pound marshmallow, melted
- 1 tablespoon butter (sweet)
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
- Boil sugar and water to 238 degrees F.
- (To test temperature: After boiling a short time, the syrup when dropped with a spoon into cold water will form a "soft ball" at 238 to 240 degrees F.) Remove from fire and add the melted marshmallow and the butter.
- Then the vanilla extract.
- Beat until thick enough to spread on cake.
