Ingredients for Maple Candy

  • 1 cup maple sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Dissolve sugars in water in saucepan over fire, when boiling add vegetable shortening and salt and boil until it hardens when dropped in cold water, or 258 degree F.
  2. Remove from fire and add vanilla.
  3. Pour into vegetable shorteninged tins.
  4. When half cold mark into squares.
  5. Wrap in waxed paper.
