Ingredients for Maple Candy
- 1 cup maple sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable shortening
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Dissolve sugars in water in saucepan over fire, when boiling add vegetable shortening and salt and boil until it hardens when dropped in cold water, or 258 degree F.
- Remove from fire and add vanilla.
- Pour into vegetable shorteninged tins.
- When half cold mark into squares.
- Wrap in waxed paper.
