Instructions

  1. Break into small pieces two pounds of "honest" maple sugar and heat in a porcelain or enameled saucepan with one pint of cream.
  2. Boil over a moderate fire to the soft ball stage.
  3. Remove from the fire, add one cup of chopped butternut meats and stir slowly until the mixture cools and begins to thicken, then pour into shallow buttered pans, score in squares and place a butternut meat on each square.
