Ingredients for Jam Sandwiches Recipe

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground rice
  • 1 small pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 pint thick cream
  • 1/4 pint new milk
  • 2 slices of bread
  • Butter

Instructions

  1. Mix the yolks very smoothly with the flour and ground rice. Add the salt, sugar, thick cream, and new milk.
  2. Beat the egg whites to a firm froth. Add them last and beat the mixture for four or five minutes.
  3. Butter 2 large pieces of bread, put them in the mixture, and bake in a hot oven until set and lightly browned.
  4. Spread a little jam over one of the slices and lay the other upon it, the browned part uppermost.
  5. Sift a little sugar over it before serving.
  6. Jam sandwiches may be eaten either hot or cold.
