Imperial Roast Recipe

Ingredients for Imperial Roast Recipe
- 2 cups diced stale bread
- 2 cups steamed rice
- 2/3 cup chopped ripe olives
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 raw egg
- 2 chopped hard-boiled eggs
- 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable fat
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 stalks diced celery
- 4 tablespoons chopped onion
- 1 1/2 cups milk (divided)
- Savory and salt to taste
Instructions
- Put flour and fat into a small saucepan and stir over heat until it turns light brown.
- Add savory, onion, and celery and stir for a few moments.
- Add 1/2 cup of milk and stir smooth.
- Add remainder of the milk and bring to a boil.
- Salt to taste, pour over the diced bread, and let stand until cold.
- Beat the egg and mix together all the ingredients except the rice.
- Fold in the rice using a fork.
- Press lightly into one large or two small greased bread tins and bake until lightly browned on top.
- Serve plain or with cranberry sauce or gravy.
