Ingredients for Imperial Muffins Recipe 1
- 1/2 cup scalded milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 yeast cake
- 3/4 cup lukewarm water, divided
- 1 3/4 cup flour, divided
- 1 cup cornmeal

Instructions
- Add sugar and salt to milk. When lukewarm, add yeast cake dissolved in 1/4 cup of the water and 1 1/4 cups flour.
- Cover and let rise until light. Add vegetable shortening, cornmeal, remaining flour, and water.
- Let rise over night. In morning, fill greased muffin rings two-thirds full.
- Let rise until rings are full and bake 30 minutes in hot oven.
- Sufficient for twelve muffins.
