Ingredients for Honigkuchen (from Holland)

  • Mix with 1 pound of raised bread dough:
  • 1 pound strained honey
  • ¼ cup butter
  • ½ ounce cinnamon
  • Pinch cloves
  • Nutmeg
  • Grated rind of 1 lemon
  • ¼ pound chipped citron
  • 1 ounce candied ginger
  • Yolks of 4 eggs, whites of 2
  • ½ teaspoon soda
  • 1 cup flour

Instructions

  1. Bake in loaf; decorate with almond fancy meringues.
