Honey Doughnuts Recipe

Ingredients for Honey Doughnuts
- 3 eggs
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 tablespoons vegetable shortening
- 1½ cups honey
- 1 cup sour milk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon lemon extract
- 5¾ cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions
- Cream vegetable shortening, honey and sugar well together, then add eggs well beaten, mix well, add milk, lemon extract, flour, salt, soda, and cream of tartar.
- Mix and turn out on baking board, roll out and cut with doughnut cutter.
- Fry in plenty of hot vegetable shortening.
- If a piece of bread browns in hot vegetable shortening in sixty seconds, temperature is right for doughnuts and fritters.
- Sufficient for sixty-five doughnuts.
