Green Tomato Sweet Pickles Recipe

Instructions

  1. Take half a bushel of tomatoes, slice them, and sprinkle salt between the layers, and let them stand all night.
  2. Drain them.
  3. To 1 gallon of vinegar add 5 pounds of brown sugar, 1 cup of stick cinnamon, 1 cup of white mustard-seed, half a cup of black pepper, half a cup of cloves.
  4. Boil the tomatoes in the vinegar and spices a few minutes, or until tender.
