Ingredients for Ginger Gems Recipe

  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable shortening
  • ¾ cup chopped preserved ginger
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Cream vegetable shortening and sugar together, then add eggs well beaten.
  2. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together and add alternately with milk to first mixture.
  3. Now mix in ginger and divide mixture into vegetable shorteninged and floured gem pans and bake in hot oven twenty-five minutes.
  4. Sufficient for sixteen gems.
