Ingredients for German Chocolate Cake Recipe

  • 1/3 cup butter
  • 1/3 cup plain yogurt
  • 12 squares German chocolate
  • 1 cup cola-flavored soda
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Mix together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Set aside.
  2. Heat butter, yogurt, chocolate, and cola over low heat until chocolate melts. Beat this in to the flour mixture.
  3. Blend in the buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla and beat until smooth and creamy.
  4. Pour batter into two greased and floured 9-inch round pans.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes.
  6. Top with a coconut pecan frosting.
