Ingredients for Fruit Fritters Recipe
- 1 scant cup flour
- 2 tablespoons Argo or Kingsfords Cornstarch
- 1/3 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon corn oil
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1 cup prepared fruit
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
Instructions
- The fruits that may be used in making these fritters are: thinly sliced apple; sliced, fresh or canned peaches; stoned, halved prunes or sliced bananas.
- Sift together the dry ingredients, then beat in the milk, the egg yolks, beaten till creamy and the corn oil.
- Stir in the fruit, fold in the egg whites, whipped, and drop by small tablespoons into corn oil heated to 350 degrees F., sufficient to brown a bit of bread in a minute in a deep fat frying kettle.
- Cook ten minutes, drain on brown paper, dust with sugar and serve with fruit sauce or corn syrup.
