Fried Green Tomatoes Recipe

Instructions

  1. Cut the tomatoes into rather thick slices.
  2. Heat in a frying-pan 3 tablespoons of butter.
  3. Lay the tomatoes in and fry on both sides, turning carefully without breaking the slices.
  4. After turning, dust lightly with pepper.
  5. A very little minced onion may be cooked in the butter if liked.
  6. Serve as a border for steak or chops.
  7. Another way is to dust each slice of the tomato with salt and pepper, and dredge with flour or very fine cracker crumbs before frying.
  8. Cook until nicely browned.
