Instructions

  1. Cream 1 1/4 cups sugar and 3/4 cup butter; add juice and rind of half a lemon; sift in 2 cups of flour, into which has been mixed 1/4 teaspoon of baking-soda.
  2. Then add the stiffly beaten whites of 7 eggs, 1/2 cup candied citron, 1/2 cup blanched almonds.
  3. Mix the batter well, and last, add a ring, a dime, a thimble, and a heart.
