Fish A La Paris Recipe

Instructions

  1. Cut any good, firm fish into small pieces, dredge with salt, pepper, and flour, and fry until brown in butter.
  2. Turn into a pot containing a pint of boiling water and half a teacup of vinegar.
  3. Add a finely chopped onion, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and a teaspoon each of ground mace, cloves, and allspice.
  4. Cover closely, and simmer for an hour.
  5. Serve very hot, and garnish with sweet fennel.
