Ingredients for Fig Cake Recipe
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons powdered cinnamon
- 3 cups flour
- ½ cup vegetable shortening
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon grated nutmeg
- 1 cup shredded figs
Instructions
- Wash and dry figs then shred them.
- Cream vegetable shortening and sugar together, add eggs well beaten, and beat five minutes.
- Sift dry ingredients, and add to first mixture alternately with milk.
- Add figs and flavorings and turn into vegetable shorteninged and floured cake tin.
- Bake one hour in moderate oven.
- Sufficient for one small cake.
