Ingredients for Entire Wheat Bread Recipe
- 1¼ cups boiling water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
- 1¼ cups milk
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 yeast cake
- ¼ cup tepid water
- 4 1/2 whole wheat flour
Instructions
- Mix boiling water, milk, sugar, salt, and vegetable shortening together.
- Dissolve yeast cake in tepid water and mix with whole wheat flour.
- Add to water mixture and let stand until light.
- Add more flour until soft dough is formed, then knead and divide into two loaves.
- Place in vegetable shorteninged tins and let stand until the dough doubles its bulk.
- Brush over with milk and bake at 350 degrees for one and a half hours.
- Sufficient for two small loaves.
