Ingredients for Entire Wheat Bread Recipe

  • 1¼ cups boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 1¼ cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 yeast cake
  • ¼ cup tepid water
  • 4 1/2 whole wheat flour

Instructions

  1. Mix boiling water, milk, sugar, salt, and vegetable shortening together.
  2. Dissolve yeast cake in tepid water and mix with whole wheat flour.
  3. Add to water mixture and let stand until light.
  4. Add more flour until soft dough is formed, then knead and divide into two loaves.
  5. Place in vegetable shorteninged tins and let stand until the dough doubles its bulk.
  6. Brush over with milk and bake at 350 degrees for one and a half hours.
  7. Sufficient for two small loaves.
