English Plum Pudding Recipe 2

Ingredients for English Plum Pudding

  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon mixed spices
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup seeded raisins
  • ½ cup chopped candied citron peel
  • 1 cup currants
  • ½ cup chopped preserved ginger
  • ¼ cup brandy
  • ½ cup chopped English walnut meats

Instructions

  1. Mix flour with breadcrumbs, add vegetable shortening, sugar, salt, baking powder, spices, nuts, fruit, milk, eggs well beaten, and brandy.
  2. Pour into vegetable shorteninged mold, cover with greased paper and steam steadily for four hours.
  3. Turn out and serve with liquid or hard sauce.
  4. The brandy may be omitted.
