Ingredients for English Monkey Recipe 1

• 1 cup bread crumbs
• 1 cup milk
• 1 tablespoon butter
• 1/2 cup milk
• 1 slice American cheese
• 1 egg
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/4 teaspoon pepper
• Toast

Instructions

1. Soak the bread crumbs in the milk until they are soft.
2. Melt the butter in the pan.
3. Dice the cheese and add it to the butter.
4. When the cheese has melted, add the softened crumbs, the beaten egg, and salt and pepper.
5. Cook three minutes longer and pour the hot mixture over squares of toast.
6. This serves four to six persons.
