Dutch Apple Pie Recipe

Ingredients for Dutch Apple Pie Recipe

Filling

  • 7 Granny Smith apples, cored, peeled, and sliced
  • 2 ounces of raisins
  • 4 tablespoons of butter
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground clove

Topping

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/8 cup candied ginger minced
  • 3/4 cup of cream (you might not need all of the cream)

Instructions

Filling

  1. Saute the apples, raisins, spices, and sugar in the butter until soft.
  2. Let the filling cool.
  3. Pour the filling into a prepared pie shell.

Topping

  1. Mix the butter, flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and ginger in a food processor.
  2. Slowly add the cream.
  3. The mixture should be a bit dry and crumbly.
  4. Crumble the mixture into pea-sized bits and cover the apple filling with the topping.
  5. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 30 minutes or until done.
