Ingredients for Dutch Apple Cake Recipe 1

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 tablespoons melted vegetable shortening

Instructions

  1. Mix and sift dry ingredients.
  2. Add beaten yolks, vegetable shortening and milk.
  3. Beat well; cut and fold in stiffly beaten whites.
  4. Spread mixture 1/2 inch thick on vegetable shorteninged pans.
  5. Lay apples cut into eighths in 2 rows on top of dough.
  6. Sprinkle with sugar; bake in hot oven 30 minutes.
  7. Serve with lemon sauce.
