Date Mold Recipe

Instructions
- Wash and soak a pound of dates in four cups of cold water for two hours.
- Drain off the water, strain it, and put it into a saucepan with one and one- half cups of granulated sugar.
- Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Stone the dates and add them to the syrup.
- Cook until they are tender.
- Just before removing from the fire stir in half a box of gelatine soaked in half a cup of cold water for half an hour, and the juice of one lemon.
- Stir over the fire until the gelatine is all dissolved, then turn into a wetted mold and set in a cold place to harden for at least twelve hours.
- Serve with whipped cream garnished with walnut meats heaped round the base of the mold.
