Ingredients for Date Bread And Butter Pudding Recipe

  • 1/2 small loaf of white bread
  • Butter to spread
  • 1 tablespoon quince or apple jelly
  • 1 cup cleaned dates, cut in small pieces
  • 1 quart of milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Cut bread into thin slices and trim off the crusts. Spread each with butter and a thin layer of quince or apple jelly.
  2. Line a buttered pudding dish with bread and spread them with half a cup of dates.
  3. Add another layer of the bread and another half cup of dates.
  4. Finish with the bread, simply buttered.
  5. Create a custard with milk, eggs, sugar, and salt.
  6. Pour the mixture slowly over the bread and let it stand for 30 minutes.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for about one hour.
