Ingredients for Cornmeal Rolls Recipe
- 1¼ cups flour
- 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
- 1 egg
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup cornmeal
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
Instructions
- Sift together flour, cornmeal, salt, baking powder, and sugar.
- Rub in vegetable shortening with finger tips. Add one well-beaten egg and milk.
- Roll out, cut into rounds with a large cutter, and brush over with melted vegetable shortening.
- Brush tops with beaten egg or milk and bake at 450 degrees for ten minutes.
- Sufficient for fifteen rolls.
