Ingredients for Clam Chowder With Tabasco Recipe

  • 4 cups clams
  • 4 cups potatoes
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup salt pork
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 4 cups scalded milk
  • Seasonings to taste
  • 1 dash of Tabasco sauce

Instructions

  1. Remove heads from clams and chop.
  2. Parboil potatoes.
  3. Cook chopped onion and salt pork, cut in cubes, for 15 minutes.
  4. Arrange clams, potatoes, onion, and pork in layers in saucepan. Cover with boiling water and simmer until tender.
  5. Blend vegetable shortening with flour, add milk, and stir till boiling.
  6. Add clam mixture, seasonings to taste, Tabasco sauce, and serve hot.
