Ingredients for Chocolate Fig Cake Recipe
- 1 cup chopped figs, dried
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- ¾ cup sugar
- ½ cup applesauce
- 2 eggs
- 3 tablespoons cocoa
- 1¼ cups flour
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix water and figs in a large bowl. Add baking soda and let cool.
- In a separate bowl, mix the vegetable oil, sugar, eggs, applesauce, vanilla, salt, and cocoa until smooth.
- Add the 1/4 cup flour to the batter and mix.
- Add half of the fig mixture and mix.
- Continue adding the two mixtures until they are all incorporated.
- Spread batter in an 8x12 greased and floured pan.
- Bake for 50 minutes
