Ingredients for Chocolate Cream Pie Recipe 4

• 2 squares chocolate
• 1/4 C cornstarch
• 1 tsp. vegetable shortening
• 1 pint milk
• 2 egg whites
• 1/2 C sugar
• 2 Tbsp. sugar (for meringue)
• 3 egg yolks
• 1/4 tsp. salt
• 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

1. Melt chocolate, add sugar, cornstarch, egg yolks, salt, vegetable shortening and milk.
2. Cook in double boiler till thick, stirring constantly; flavor with vanilla.
3. Pour into a baked pie crust shell, cover with meringue made by beating egg whites till stiff and adding 2 tablespoons sugar.
4. Brown in oven briefly.
5. Serve cold.
