Chocolate Cream Cake Recipe

Instructions
- 1/2 cup of butter, 2 cups of sugar, 1 cup of water, 3 cups of sifted flour, 3 level teaspoons of baking-powder, 1 teaspoon of vanilla, whites of 4 eggs.
- Cream the butter, add the sugar gradually, continuing the creaming; then add the water and flour, a little at a time; having the baking-powder sifted with the flour, continue stirring until the water and flour are all used.
- Now add the vanilla and well-beaten whites of the eggs, stir just enough to mix, and pour into 3 large or 4 small layer-cake pans, and bake in a moderate oven for about twenty minutes.
- Filling
- White of 1 egg, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla, 1/2 tablespoon of cold water; add sugar until thick enough to spread.
- Spread on top of each layer; melt a quarter of a cake of chocolate over steam and spread on top of white frosting on each layer, after the white frosting has become hard.
