Ingredients for Chocolate Angel Food Cake Recipe
- 1 dozen egg whites
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup non-self rising cake flour
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup grated semisweet chocolate
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions
- Spread a large piece of parchment paper on your counter. Over the parchment paper, sift half the sugar, salt, baking soda, flour, and cocoa powder.
- Add the grated chocolate to the sifted ingredients and set aside.
- Using your mixer's whisk attachment or with a hand-whisker, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until it peaks. Slowly mix in remaining sugar and and continue beating until stiff peaks appear.
- Beat in almond and vanilla extracts.
- Using a large spoon, stir in the grated chocolate mixture until fully incorporated.
- Pour into a 10-inch greased and floured baking pan.
- Bake for 30-40 minutes in an 350 degree oven.
- Cool before frosting.
