Chestnut Stuffing Recipe

Ingredients for Chestnut Stuffing Recipe
- 2 cups chestnuts, whole
- 1 1/2 cups butter
- 1 onion
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 2 tsp. poultry seasoning
- 1 pound of stale bread
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Chop onion and sliced the bread into cubes,
- Cut slits in the chestnuts using a very sharp knife. Place them in a saucepan with water and bring to boil.
- Reduce heat to medium and cover. Simmer for 25 minutes. Let cool.
- With a sharp knife, peel the chesnuts and chop them coarsely.
- Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Add chestnuts, onion, salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning. Cook until onions are tender, about 3 minutes.
- Place in a medium baking dish and add the cubed bread.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and milk togther.
- Spoon it over the bread mixture. Knead the bread with your hands to mix it thoroughly.
