Chestnut Stuffing Recipe

Ingredients for Chestnut Stuffing Recipe

  • 2 cups chestnuts, whole
  • 1 1/2 cups butter
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 tsp. poultry seasoning
  • 1 pound of stale bread
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Chop onion and sliced the bread into cubes,
  3. Cut slits in the chestnuts using a very sharp knife. Place them in a saucepan with water and bring to boil.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and cover. Simmer for 25 minutes. Let cool.
  5. With a sharp knife, peel the chesnuts and chop them coarsely.
  6. Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Add chestnuts, onion, salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning. Cook until onions are tender, about 3 minutes.
  7. Place in a medium baking dish and add the cubed bread.
  8. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and milk togther.
  9. Spoon it over the bread mixture. Knead the bread with your hands to mix it thoroughly.
