Cheese and Onion Scones Recipe

Ingredients for Cheese and Onion Scones Recipe

  • 1 cup self rising flour
  • 2 ounces margarine
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • mixed herbs, optional
  • 1/4 pint of milk
  • 2 ounces grated cheese

Instructions

  1. Add salt and baking powder to flour. Mix thoroughly.
  2. Cream margarine into flour mix.
  3. Add cheese, onion and herbs, if using.
  4. Mix mustard and milk together and add to the flour mix.
  5. Blend by hand until it is soft and sticky.
  6. Place on a floured board and roll out with your hands.
  7. Use scone cutter to make 8 good size scones. Brush with beaten egg.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 c for approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
