Nut Bread Recipes
What could be better just about any time of the year than a piping hot slice of nut bread, fresh from the oven? Most nut breads are so easy to make, there's no reason not to whip up a loaf or two for breakfast, lunch, or after-dinner snack. Try a loaf of raisin nut bread for breakfast or use up leftover rice in a Princess Loaf. Nut breads, especially the whole grain varieties, are great for your health, too.
You can also create wonderful yeast bread recipes with nuts. Think about a walnut and rosemary loaf, steaming hot from the oven. Doesn't that sound yummy? Adding dried fruit, such as raisins, dates, or dried cranberries will give an added sweetness, too. Don't be afraid to experiment with many different types of nuts, either. Pine nuts, hickory nuts, Brazil nuts, and many others will add different but delicious tastes.
Baking Tips
- Use mini loaf pans, available at your local grocery store, to make smaller loaves for smaller families.
- Substitute dry oats for about 1/2 cup of the flour. This will add texture and some nutrients. You can substitute whole wheat flour for some of the white flour, too.
- Try a silicone bread pan to bake in. You don't have to oil and flour the pan and you'll be amazed at how easily your bread will come out!
- Substitute buttermilk for milk or water in your recipe for an added tasty tang.
