Indian Recipes
From LoveToKnow Recipes
Indian recipes bring to mind hot curries, rice, and, perhaps, some tandoori. Well, you probably won't be surprised to learn there's a lot more to Indian cooking than that! As with most ethnic cuisines, there are many sides to Indian cooking, from curries and chutneys to delicious desserts, breads, and soups.
Once you try an Indian recipe or two, you'll see that creating these exotic concoctions isn't that difficult. Indians use many spices in their cooking, but you can always cut down on the spiciness by using less curry powder to reduce the heat of the dish. Many fresh ingredients are used, so your main preparation time may be with the chopping, rather than actual cooking. Consider trying one of our Indian recipes today and see how easy it is to cook the recipes of another land!
Ingredient Tips for Indian Recipes
- Consider making your own curry spice mixes, it's easy! That way you can control the amount of salt and heat in the spice mixture, too.
- Don't be afraid of ghee! Ghee is just the Indian version of clarified butter (butter that has been heated and strained to remove the solids, leaving behind a clear, pure butter).
- Yogurt is a common ingredient. Use plain, non-fat, of low-fat yogurt for the best results.
- Try using a rice cooker to make your next batch of rice. It's easy, quick, and the results are so much better than boiled rice, you may never go back to rice cooked on the stove again!
