Ingredients for Butterscotch Pie Recipe 1

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 baked crust
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Put egg yolk into saucepan, add brown sugar, flour, milk, water, vegetable shortening, salt, and vanilla.
  2. Stir over fire until it thickens and comes to boiling point.
  3. Pour into baked pie shell.
  4. Beat up white of egg, then beat powdered sugar into it.
  5. Spread on top of pie and brow lightly in oven.

Sufficient for one pie.
