Ingredients for Butterscotch Bread Squares Recipe

  • 2 cups bread flour
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ cup corn oil
  • 1-¼ cups milk
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1/3 cup chopped nut meats

Instructions

  1. Sift together the dry ingredients.
  2. Stir in the corn oil and milk.
  3. Oil a medium-sized dripping pan with corn oil and pour in a layer of the mixture, about 1/2-inch thick.
  4. Bake at 375 degrees F.
  5. Boil the remaining corn syrup untol it forms a thread. Stir until creamy.
  6. When the baking is almost finished, spread the corn syrup on top.
  7. Sprinkle with chopped nut meats and finish baking.
