Ingredients for Butter Scotch Icing Recipe

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup butter

Instructions

  1. Boil sugar, water, milk and butter together to 240 degrees F.
  2. (To test temperature: After boiling a short time, the syrup when dropped with a spoon into cold water will form a "soft ball" at 238 to 240 degrees F.) Cool slightly without stirring.
  3. While stillwarm, pour on cake.
