Ingredients for Butter Cakes Recipe

  • 1 quart flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • Milk

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients.
  2. Rub in 3 tablespoons butter.
  3. Mix to a soft dough adding milk in small amounts as necessary.
  4. Roll out three-fourths of an inch thick, cut in round cakes.
  5. Lay on a moderately hot, greased griddle, and when pale brown turn and brown on other side.
  6. Tear open, butter liberally, and send to table.
