Ingredients for Brunette Or Brown Cheese Sandwiches Recipe

  • Brown bread
  • Neufchatel or cottage cheese
  • Lettuce
  • French dressing
  • Red or black pepper

Instructions

  1. Remove the crust from the brown bread, slice about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. Spread each piece with soft, lightly salted, creamed butter; then a layer of cream Neufchatel, or cottage cheese.
  3. Carefully wash and dry the lettuce; Dip each leaf into French dressing; place it upon the cheese.
  4. Season with red or black pepper.
  5. Place another slice of bread on top; press it gently upon the lettuce.

Note: White or rye bread cheese sandwiches can be made as the above, also pumpernickel.
