Ingredients for Brown Sauce Recipe 2

  • 1 small onion, chopped very fine
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 pint boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Cook the flour in oil until it is a medium dark-brown color.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook till the onion is browned.
  3. Stir in the boiling water and boil for 1 minute.
  4. Strain and add salt.
  5. The flour must be stirred almost constantly while browning, to prevent scorching.
