Ingredients for Brown Nut Bread Recipe

  • 4 tablespoons melted vegetable shortening
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup sour milk
  • 2/3 cup New Orleans molasses
  • 1½ cups flour
  • 1½ cups graham flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sultana raisins
  • 1 cup chopped nut meats

Instructions

  1. Beat eggs and sugar together for five minutes.
  2. Add molasses, soda mixed with milk, salt, flours, raisins, and nuts.
  3. Mix and turn into vegetable shorteninged and floured cake tin. Bake at 325 degrees for one and a quarter hours.
  4. Sufficient for one medium-sized loaf.
