Ingredients for Breakfast Rolls Recipe

  • 1 1/2 pints flour
  • 1/2 pint Indian corn meal (white)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking-powder
  • 1 tablespoon butter or shortening
  • 3/4 pint milk

Instructions

  1. Sift together flour, corn meal, salt, and powder.
  2. Rub in shortening.
  3. Add the milk and mix smoothly into a firm dough.
  4. Flour the board, turn out the dough onto it, and give it one or two turns to complete its smoothness.
  5. Divide it into pieces the size of an egg. Divide these in half and roll them until they are long and half the size of one's little finger.
  6. Lay on greased baking-tin so that they do not touch.
  7. Brush with milk.
  8. Bake at 400 degrees for 7-8 minutes.
