Ingredients for Bread Pudding With Cherries Recipe

  • 1/2 pound bread
  • Cold water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 pound glace cherries
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 egg, well-beaten
  • 3 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Soak bread in cold water until soft.
  2. Press out water and beat out any lumps with fork.
  3. Add vegetable shortening, sugar, vanilla extract, cherries, and baking powder.
  4. Mix well. Add egg and milk.
  5. Put into greased basin and cover with wax paper.
  6. Steam for 1 1/2 hours.
