Ingredients for Braised Beef's Tongue Recipe
- One fresh beef tongue
- One sliced onion
- Flour
- Fat
- Salt and pepper
- Onion juice
- 1/2 cup strained tomato sauce

Instructions
- Wash the tongue and put it into a pot.
- Boil for one hour.
- Remove tongue from the pot and trim off the tough edges.
- Fry the onion in 3 tablespoons of drippings.
- Remove the onion and place the tongue in the frying pan.
- Fry the tongue for ten minutes, turning twice.
- Now place the tongue on the grating of a covered roaster and dredge with flour; pour the fat and a large cup of boiling water over it and cook, closely covered, for an hour and a half. Baste three or four times.
- When done, take up the tongue and place it over boiling water to keep warm.
- Skim off the fat and thicken with browned flour to create gravy.
- Season the gravy with salt, paprika, onion juice and strained tomato sauce.
- Dish the tongue and pour the gravy over it.
- Serve with horseradish sauce.
