Bartemian Tarts Recipe

Ingredients for Bartemian Tarts

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 lemon
  • ¼ lb. chopped candied citron peel
  • vegetable shortening flake pastry
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon melted vegetable shortening
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Roll pastry thin and cut out large cakes of it.
  2. Beat egg, add sugar, vegetable shortening, rind and strained juice of lemon, salt, citron, and raisins.
  3. Mix and put tablespoons of mixture on each of pastry cakes, wet edges of paste and fold like old fashioned turn over.
  4. Do not stick with fork or juice will run out.
  5. Lay turn overs on vegetable shorteninged tins and bake in hot oven from twelve to fifteen minutes.
  6. Sufficient for twelve tarts.
