Ingredients for Banana Rum Cream Recipe
- 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 2/3 cup dark rum
- 2/3 cup water
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup mashed bananas
- 1/3 cup chopped pecans
- 1/3 cup butter, softened
- 3 cups confectioners' sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons dark rum
Instructions
- Preheat oven temperature to 350 degrees.
- Prepare two nine-inch round cake pans with grease and flour.
- Combine baking soda, cake mix, water, rum, eggs, bananas and pecans (if desired).
- After thoroughly stirring ingredients, use an electric mixer on medium speed for approximately 3 minutes.
- Divide batter into the two cake pans.
- Place cake pans in preheated oven for approximately 25 to 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in the center of the cakes comes out clean.
- Once cakes are done baking, remove from the oven and let them cool to room temperature.
- To make the frosting, combine 1/3 cup butter or margarine with the powdered sugar. Mix thoroughly. Add 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and 2 tablespoons of rum. Beat with electric mixer until smooth.
- Place icing on cake and enjoy.
