Ingredients for Baking Powder Biscuit Recipe 3

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder (Amount of baking powder may be increased if especially raised biscuits are desired. 2 teaspoons, however, is most healthful amount)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Milk

Instructions

  1. Mix and sift dry ingredients twice.
  2. Work in vegetable shortening with fingertips, gradually add milk, mixing with knife to a soft dough.
  3. Toss on floured board. Pat and roll to one-half inch thickness.
  4. Shape with biscuit cutter.
  5. Place on vegetable shorteninged tin and bake at 400 degrees for twelve minutes.
  6. Sufficient for fifteen biscuits.
