Ingredients for Baked Doughnuts (sixteen) Recipe

  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 1 cake compressed yeast
  • 18 ounces sifted pastry flour, divided
  • 1/2 cup sugar, divided
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 ounces sifted pastry flour

Instructions

  1. Combine the milk, yeast, and 10 ounces pastry flour and allow it to rise.
  2. Stir into it the 1/4 cup sugar and oil.
  3. Allow it to rise again.
  4. When light, then add the other 1/4 cup sugar, eggs, salt, and 8 ounces sifted pastry flour. Mix thoroughly.
  5. This will be too soft to knead.
  6. Set it in a warm place to rise.
  7. When it is light, knead it together.
  8. Take the dough out onto a floured board, roll it out three-fourths inch thick, and cut with a doughnut cutter.
  9. Lay the doughnuts on an oiled pan one-inch apart and set in a warm place to rise.
  10. Allow them to rise about one-eighth inch, not more, and then bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes.
